A Nostalgic Barbershop Branding Session

In February, Anthony requested we meet up at the shop in Tampa to discuss re-decorating the vintage side of the store. He told me, "this place needs a woman's touch."

Okay, challenge accepted.

Most of my clients up to this point have been women. Younger, older, any age, but they have mostly been women up to this point. Culture Control, with its vibe steeped in Y2K vintage masculinity, was a wee bit out of my comfort zone. So, we discussed. Two months of discussing Culture Control's brand image over pizza, coffee, and a shared drive to make this business' imagery better.

In preparation for this shoot, we nailed a concept, story, and some inspiration. Culture Control isn't just a barbershop or a vintage store; it's an experience for young men to become their best selves.

On the day of the shoot, Anthony was accompanied by fellow barber Kris, as well as vintage curator and event organizer JD, who sat in the salon chair as Anthony worked his magic with his shears and clippers. Everyone was all smiles during the session. I could tell that Anthony was in his natural element.

On the vintage side of the store, JD assisted me in curating a flatlay of some of the pieces he has curated. He picked out vintage T-shirts, jewelry, and accessories; all that encapsulated the Culture Control experience. The end product we achieved were unique branding photos that told Culture Control's complete narrative.

Anthony, thank you so much for booking with me! I hope to continue to assist your business for many years in the future.
